9 On-Page SEO Techniques To Increase Web Page Ranking

On-page SEO optimization is done on the site (blog or website) itself. Optimization can be done in the article quality section, article title, meta tag (meta description), permanent links, heading tags, internal links, external links and so on.

Off-page SEO optimization is done from outside the site by building backlinks, namely links on other sites that point to your site. Quality backlinks also contribute to increasing rank.

This article only focuses on on-page SEO optimization. There are several ways or techniques for doing optimization from within the site. When creating a new article, you come into direct contact with on-page SEO factors that need to be optimized. The following are some on-page SEO optimization techniques that need to be done:

1. Article title.

What's with the article title? The title of the article must be interesting and optimized. You can put keywords (keywords) at the beginning of the title, if not possible, you can put anywhere in the title. Try not to repeat the word more than once in the title because this is a productive city and damages the ranking later. The more interesting and optimal the title, the more clicks and the better the ranking.

2. Optimize the permalink structure.

Permalinks or permanent links are web addresses for opening specific web pages. You can use permalinks to create URLs that are search engine friendly. Try to keep the permalink short. Use hyphens to separate words, not underscores. Make sure you use all lowercase letters and use targeted keywords in the permalink.

3. Quality content.

Content is the main reason visitors visit your site. Therefore, create quality content, interesting and dense information sought. Try not to create shallow or low-quality content, even if combined with search engine tricks, it will still fail. Shallow content makes visitors not get anything and disappointed. Quality, interesting and information-dense content will be easily crawled by spiders or bots to identify the theme of the content.

4. Image optimization.

Images can bring a lot of traffic to a site from the image search. When clicked, the image will direct to the web page where the image is located. For maximum results, images need to be optimized. Image optimization can include several things such as image size, using alt attributes, naming the image and how to write it correctly, the dimensions of the image and also the format of the image.

5. Internal link.

Use internal links to link to articles that are still relevant. Internal links are a way for visitors to feel at home for long on your site. This can reduce the bounce rate and is a signal to search engines that articles are useful. Web pages with rank (page rank) can either transfer or pass on the value or equity owned to another page to help get a better ranking (link equity or link juice ).

6. External link.

The use of external links is avoided because it directs visitors to leave the site to other sites. External links can increase the site's credibility when it leads to trusted, informative and high-quality sources. 7. Page load speed.

Google has stated that ranking algorithms include site load speed, and as a result, page load speed as a ranking factor. Search engine search results also prioritize fast sites. There are various ways that you can try to make the site load faster. Site load speed can be measured through tools such as Google PageSpeed Insights, GTMetrix or Pingdom Website Speed Test and so on.

Check the homepage and article page, don't just check the homepage, because I'm sure that visitors will come to the article page instead of the homepage, the proof is that they visit the blog to read the article and not intentionally walk around to see the appearance of the blog.

8. Meta tags.

There are two previous key meta tags namely meta keywords and meta descriptions. Meta keywords are no longer used and now you only need to fill in the meta description. But in Joomla CMS, there are still fields (text boxes) where you can add meta keywords.

Meta keywords are still filled in, it might still be useful for other things. You need to add a unique and relevant meta description for each article.
Use targeted keywords in the meta description, but it's natural and doesn't overdo it so it isn't considered a spam keyword.

Write a user-friendly meta description, which can be understood and related to the article created. This meta description is not solely for search engines but is also intended for visitors. The purpose of the meta description is to reflect the essence of the article's content in its important points.

9. Use of Tags

Be wise in using Heading tags such as H1, H2, H3 to H6. This will affect the quality of SEO on the article page, what I usually do for the use of heading tags:

Heading 1 ( H1 ) is used to lock the main keyword (On my blog the title has become H1)
Heading 2 ( H2 ) is used to place the second keyword or derived keyword.
Heading 3 ( H3 ) is used to help keywords in Heading 2 so that the topic presented contains more relevant keywords.

Conclusion

For optimization on-page SEO is actually not as complicated as off-page where we have to design a link building and a strong backlink arrangement, we just take advantage of the aspects contained on the blog page only.
